CLC Outreach Programme

Give love to those who need it most!
The CLC- Christian Life Community had the privilege of organizing an outreach programme on the 4th of July to Asha Niketan and Mt. St. Joseph.

The day started at 8:30 am in the school chapel. The students and teachers’ in-charge gathered for prayer to seek God’s blessings.
Adoration is a sign of devotion and worship. Rev. Fr. Sunil Fernandes, SJ blessed the CLC team. The songs of praise were sung gracefully.

AT 9:00 a.m., the CLC team left school to proceed to Asha Niketan, located at 6th block Koramangala, Bangalore.
Jonas Salk says “Hope lies in dreams, in imaginations and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality”. Asha Niketan – Home of Hope is one such dream home! Making dreams into a magical reality at Asha Niketan is Mr. Paul Joseph along with his team.

Asha Niketan provides residential and day care services for individuals who are intellectually challenged. Founded in the year 1970, it is a part of the L’Arche communities which was started by Jean Vanier in France.
At Asha Niketan, the CLC team was greeted with smiles and handshakes. It was a place filled with light, love, laughter and warmth. Their day starts with prayer at 7:45 am followed by breakfast, an hour of meditation and the day’s program.

The residents and day care individuals are trained in various therapeutic skills. They have in-house workshops like: Candle Making, Embroidery, Weaving, Bamboo Craft, Paper Mache. The products are displayed for sale and are priced reasonably.
The inmates have a fun-filled busy day up to 4:00 pm, after which it’s time for some laughter and memories shared over tea and snacks, Dinner time is at 7:30 p.m. and bed time at 9:00 p.m.

Human life is sacred and every person is created in God’s image. A person’s dignity and worth cannot be diminished by any condition.
The CLC team was impressed by the work done by the Asha Niketan Community and thanked them for the wonderful visit.

AT 10:30 am the students left for Mt. St. Joseph and reached there at around 11:40 a.m.
The CLC team was rejuvenated and energized by the talk given by Mr. Brian Mckertish on “Who am I”. He assured the students of the CLC team that God has created each one of us for a purpose and we should discover ourselves.
The sumptuous noon meal was blessed by Rev. Fr. Sunil Fernandes, SJ. 12:30 to 1:00 was play time for the students and after spending a wonderful afternoon the CLC team left to return to school. A day enjoyed by both the CLC members and staff… a day to be remembered and cherished!!
