Phenomenon 2016

The smile on every Josephite’s face was contagious; the excitement in the air was tangible and a carnival like atmosphere had set in as the 11th of November came closer until it was finally here - PHENOMENON 2016 – a Carnival cum Literary, Cultural and Commerce Fest – was ready to take centrestage.

The SJBHS grounds wore a festive air with the many colourful canopies set along the periphery as well as the bedecked stage at the far end, occupying pride of place. The SJBHS fest beckoned all, irrespective of age. The only criteria: enthusiasm to be a part of two days of wholesome enjoyment, fun and entertainment of the students, by the students and for the students!

The Chief Guest, Rector of St. Joseph’s Institutions, Rev. Fr. Antony Joseph, SJ, the Guest of Honour, Mr. Sampath Kumar, BBMP Corporator, Vasant Nagar Ward, Mr. Rajbir Bamhra, CEO of BaazKart.Com, Official Sponsors of Phenomenon, 2016, Principal of SJBHS, Rev. Fr. Clifford Sequeira, SJ, Vice Principal, Mrs. Miriam Angelo, Primary School Administrator, Rev. Fr. The inauguration ceremony unfolded with an opening prayer by Deol of 12 A, seeking God’s blessing and protection on every participant of PHENOMENON 2016. This was followed by an Invocation Song, ‘Love Can Turn the World’ by the SJBHS Choir and the lighting of the lamp. Our Rector, Rev.Fr. Antony Joseph delivered an inspiring speech, gave us his blessings and declared ‘PHENOMENON 2016’ open.

The Carnival had begun! The game stalls had entertainment for everyone. The gift center was a busy place throughout the two days as many of the participants in various games emerged lucky winners. Disney characters, large colourful balloons and upbeat music kept everyone on their feet. The merry-go-round, bouncing play house, tattoo artists, etc. all kept everyone in high spirits. The mouth watering cuisine was a great attraction to everyone, big and small.

The cultural part of the fest witnessed healthy competition and showcased skills and a diverse array of talents. Crisis Management, Wall Street, Photography, Creative Writing, Rap Battle, Fusion Dance, Beat Boxing, Fashion Show kept the judges on their toes and the audience clamouring for more.

Phenomenon 2016 finally came to an end with the Dance Music Festival featuring an international DJ, Thomas Neston. There were eager entries waiting at the gates patiently, even when it was well past evening, to get a taste or glimpse of Phenomenon. People took selfies to declare to the world they were at PHENOMENON 2016. All this is testimony to the fact that the event was a mighty success.
