Discussing the Russia-Ukraine Conflict and the Disruptions caused by the conflict in the energy sector
The OPEC+ committee occupies the epicentre of global energy diplomacy, its relevance augmented in the wake of the Russia–Ukraine conflict. With sanctions and price caps impinging Russian oil exports, global markets are thrust into severe volatility, supply shortages, and price surges. Russia’s continued role within OPEC+ since 2016 has rendered the body an indispensable player in achieving the delicate equilibrium of energy production and stability. The ongoing conflict has intensified debates over OPEC+’s responsibility: to safeguard global energy security, to recalibrate relations with the West, and to reconsider Russia’s contested place within its ranks. Delegates are invited to deliberate on these pressing questions that reconfigure both the present and future of the international economic order.
Note: The OPEC is a double delegate, semi-crisis committee.
