As the world teeters on vacillating allegiances and destabilised sovereignties, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL) stands as a sentinel over unravelling history. Once again, the echoes of those displaced by conflict reverberate through the entanglements of power and ambition. Rojava, girdled in the midst of war in northern Syria, is a Kurdish-led attempt at local governance that has become a point of tension—challenged by Damascus, threatened by Ankara, and embroiled in the designs of global powers, entangled in rival agendas. Behind the politics and laws are families caught between borders, communities struggling to endure, and a generation growing up uncertain.
Delegates are summoned not merely to adjudicate policies, but to deliberate the scales of conscience and consequence, resolving the future not to be ordained by circumstance but to honour the lost voices.
