Reaffirming our Faith in the Constitution
Pride and patriotism mark the 26th January celebrations year after year. This historic day heralds the adoption of the constitution of India in 1950, making India a sovereign, democratic republic.
Republic Day Celebrations unfolded at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, where the President of India hoisted the National Flag and took the salute. This was replicated at SJBHS with much grandeur and faith in democracy. The Principal, Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, unfurled the tricolour. The grand salute and the singing of the National Anthem by the gathering, showcased the utmost love for the MMotherlan; sheer joy at the rules and values embedded in the Constitution; and the zest for development and dynamism.
As the National Flag fluttered in the cool morning breeze it was symbolic of India’s unbreakable spirit and determined resolve to grow, develop and progress. The Principal and the Vice Principal gave the gathering the message of secularism, peaceful coexistence, brotherhood and equality as laid down in the tenets of the Constitution.
The students of today are the citizens of tomorrow. As they learn about freedom, through the celebration of the National festivals, they grow in the understanding of the working of a democracy, the characteristics of a ever-changing global stage, and the features that will see India emerge as a steady force to deal with!
