New Beginnings Across All Faiths
A thematic session called “Season’s Intentions and New Beginnings” was conducted for the non Catholic students while the Catholics were at Mass. The greatest revolutions in the past began with pure intentions and the hope for a brighter future for humankind.
The session was anchored by teachers and PTA members, who introduced the topic and established the relevance of the topic being discussed in the contemporary world. They explained the significance of the various phases of the year standing for the stages of human life, where ‘spring’ often brings forth ‘new beginnings’, even in the toughest phases. The visual displays along with her narration portrayed a vivid picture of history and created long-lasting lessons on new beginnings.
Presentations from Hindu Mythology, the birth and childhood of Prophet Muhammad, and the birth of Jesus Christ gave valuable life lessons on the values of patience, kindness, integrity, perseverance, and the need to keep “pure at heart.”
The closing activity of this program made the students reflect on what they had learned from this session through a lesson on values that students could apply in their own lives, and this connected well with the theme of intentions and second chances.
On the whole, this session was very enlightening, well-organized, and food for thought. It very successfully conveyed the message that “the biographies of great people across all faiths teach us universal values such as hope, compassion, courage, and purposeful living.
