The Child in All of Us
Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
The students of SJBHS are like buds in a garden – small and big – they are active, happy, and energetic and more so on the 14th of November 2025, as they were aware that there was a treat in store for them!
The morning assembly began with the flag hoisting and the school song and ended with the State and National Anthem but what came in between was far from the daily routine. There was a live band on stage, dances, a skit as well as a ramp walk. Every one of the events was performed by the teachers. It was that time of the year when students were the audience and teachers were on stage. Kudos to the teachers who found practice time even with their busy schedules; to walk the extra mile to make the students happy; and to bring out the child within themselves.
A special mention must be made of the skit which brought to life a world of cartoon characters. There was Micky Mouse and Donald Duck rubbing shoulders with Tom and Jerry, Mrs Shrek sharing space with Kung Fu Panda, Dora and Doraemon happily interacted with Chota Bhim while Mr Bean played his part to stir up the party. The aim was to make the students ‘keep a cartoon in their heart.’
Fr Norwin Pereira, Principal of SJBHS, in his address, asked the students to chase their dreams while keeping their faith in God. Father said that the students of SJBHS were the stars of today with their boundless energy, joy and possibilities and he hoped that they would become the best versions of themselves.
Mr Brian McKertish, Vice Principal, asked the students to be happy always and to take their parents and teachers along with them on their happy journey. Fr Paul Anand, the Primary School Administrator, asked the students to be strong, to dream big, and emulate a kite that flies high.
The students were sent home after the programme with a huge doughnut; a warm feeling of being loved and cherished; and a reminder of a million dreams that they could manifest, nurture and change into reality.
