Say NO to Plastic!
The Science, Math and Tech Intra-School Fest of SJBHS held in August 2025, had as its
theme: Science and Sustainability – Say NO to Plastic.
Sustainability is a buzz word, widely proclaimed and profoundly advocated by all. At the
very grassroot, it is the students advocating to spread the message of use and re-use, repair
and recycle. Under the umbrella of Eucranium, through a plethora of events in the sciences,
math and tech fields, the students highlighted the importance of environmental, economic,
social, and human sustainability, all for the sake of preserving future generations and
improving the quality of life. The line-up of events and a gist of what they entailed is as
follows:
Matrix – Math Event
Render -Simulation of Market-place Tactics Event
Scienstein – Roulette of events to crown Mr. Eucranium.
Disputos – Debate Event
Modelimo – Model Making
Breakout -Mystery Quest Event
Valencia - Chemistry Event
Interstellar – Space Mysteries Event
G-Force – Formula 1 Event
Neosphere – Biology Event
Cognitive Connection - Mental Stimulus Event
The intra-school event had something for everyone from Class 7 to Class 12 and it is no
wonder that the competition was fierce with 729 participants across all events!
The Chief Guest, Dr T S Srinath Kumar, Senior consultant and Group Head of the Dept. of
Emergency Medicine, Sparsh Group of Hospitals, was impressed with the magnitude, calibre
and quality of the events. In his address, he advised the students to revolutionize as
innovation is the key to bring people with scientific temper to the forefront of sustainability.
Dr Srinath put forth his ideas, dreams, and theories for innovation so as to make the country
self-dependent, self-sufficient, and self-reliant.
The Principal, Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, applauded the student core committee, the staff
coordinators and the admin and support staff for their success in motivation the students
towards sustainability and zero tolerance towards plastic. Father put on record the joy of the
past few weeks when the campus was a-buzz with inquiry, imagination, and innovation
because of Eucranium and advised the gathering with his message that “Science has no
failures, only discoveries.”
The intra-school fest ended on a high note with a closing ceremony that showcased the trailer
of the Fest and a dance highlighting the ban on plastics. The winners of the various events
were graced with medals and certificates; the event heads breathing a cumulative sigh of
relief for a job done well; and the staff coordinators commenced reviewing the proceedings of
Eucranium 2025, for posterity.
