GRANDPARENTS’ DAY

19th July, 2025

A Grand Celebration of a Grand Treasure!

Grandparents are the family’s strong foundation. Their presence in the family is invaluable as they teach us values that last forever in the minds and hearts of young ones.

To honour the profound impact grandparents, have on their grandchildren, the Pre-Primary Unit of SJBHS organized Grandparents’ Day on 19th July, 2025 which not only gave opportunity to the little ones to express their deep love for their grandparents but also gave the grandparents the opportunity to feel how loved and special they are!

The preparations began well in advance as could be seen by the way the little Josephites so beautifully gave their thumb impression on the invitation card they had made for their loving grandparents. Not only that! A fridge magnet too, was given by the grandchild to the grandparents as a mark of love for all that they do. Needless to say, the pre-Primary teachers always go the extra mile in making every event successful and memorable.

The event began with the Lighting of the Lamp, thanking God for the beautiful day where every moment was special not only for the grandparents and the grandchild but also for the entire SJBHS family. Our Principal, Fr Norwin Pereira welcomed and addressed the gathering. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciated the grandparents for whatever they do for their grandchild. Fr Norwin also heartily welcomed the chief guest for the day, Mr. Glen Hartley, Old Boy of SJBHS (Batch of 1968) who, after retiring from the corporate world channelized his expertise into the field of education and still continues to teach and prepare students for ICSE, CBSE, and Std 10 curricula at prestigious institutions in Bangalore. He not only shared his experience of being a grandparent but also gave some tips on how grandchildren should take care of their grandparents, the most invaluable treasure of every family.

Our Primary School Administrator, Fr Paul Anand Prasad, too addressed the gathering and thanked the grandparents for gracing the occasion with their presence. Then followed the excitement where video clips of songs were played on mute and the grandparents were to guess the song correctly. Another game that was played was ‘Guess the actor’. The grandparent, giving the correct answer, was also given a prize in the form of a doughnut shaped ceramic vase. The stage was then left open for the grandparents to shake their leg on some of the superhit songs. What a delight it was to see the enthusiasm and happiness with which the grandparents danced!

The day ended with great joy and happiness and it was wonderful to see the grandparents creating wonderful memories out of thin air. May God continue to bless the priceless treasure of every family.
