Inter-Faith Prayer Service

25th June, 2025

Binding with Love

The Inter-Faith Prayer Service held on 25 th June 2025 resonated with the message of secularism and universal brotherhood. The serene surroundings, the prayerful audience and the sense of peace that prevailed was a reminder that in spite of the uncertainty and unrest; prayer, harmony and reflection are the key to sustainable living.

Interspersed with hymns and bhajans, the Inter-faith Prayer Service was an amalgam of readings and reflections, mantras and shlokas from the religious texts of Jainism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism. The intentions of peace, progress and gratitude were inherent in each verse and each invocation.

The guest speaker, Fr Sandeep Menezes, Assistant Director of the Redemptorist Media Centre and Coordinator of Youth Ministry for Redemptorists in Karnataka, re-iterated the good in all religions by collating the commonalities of all the texts read during the prayer service. The importance of unity, fraternity and reconciliation were stressed.

Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, Principal of SJBHS, in his address, told the audience that the Inter- Faith Prayer Service was a time to celebrate love, unity and the feeling of belonging to one big Josephite family. Father said that religions were like rivers all flowing into the ocean. Religions remind us to be united, to walk together and share our journey in the process of moving forward.

The Inter-Faith Prayer Service concluded on the reassurance that SJBHS strives to bind us all, with love, as we commence the academic year and forge towards glorifying the name of the school, enjoying the opportunities presented, and learning to be better than we were the day before.
