TEA @JESUIT NIVAS

Sharing a Common Vision

Very rarely do people speak about their neighbours in such a way, but at SJBHS, we the staff, cherish the rare opportunity to gather under one roof with the Jesuit Nivas Community, our neighbours and the heart and soul of our Institution. It was on the September 23, 2025, that we connected with the Jesuit fathers, brothers, and scholastics of Jesuit Nivas over tea and snacks. Though informal, the connect commenced with a prayer followed by a heartfelt welcome from the Vice Principal, Mr Brian McKertish. The Principal, Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, introduced each of the community members, starting with the Fr Daniel Fernandes SJ who serves as the Rector of St Joseph’s Institutions, Vice-President of the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society and Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of St Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The Rector commended the staff on their yeoman service of always thinking of the greater good of the students, helping society become more humane and embracing challenges as they come. Father also spoke about several aspects that needed attention like digitalization of key classroom inputs, promoting Jesuit ethos, putting in place a structure to guide the new generation, and to engage in dialogue to name just a few. Fr Daniel wished the staff the very best to continue the Josephite legacy of the school on one hand and scale greater heights on the other.

The staff and Jesuits then intermingled, informally, to get to know the other; to bond and to realise that together they share a vision, a mission, and a goal – a better society; men and women for and with others; upliftment of the downtrodden; and care for our common home.
