ANNUAL AQUATIC MEET 2025

SJBHS Celebrates Water Champions

Freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke were easily voted as the most frequently used words on the 7th of November 2025 as the SJBHS swimming pool hosted its Annual Aquatic Meet 2025. This was the most awaited day for the swimming champions who had put in hours of practice and for their parents who had sacrificed time and effort to coach their wards.

A string of colourful flags marked the periphery of the pool while the floating track markers demarcated the racing lane lines giving the school indoor heated pool its most festive look enhancing the feeling of excitement, competition, camaraderie, and challenge.

The chief guest for the occasion, Mr Sundaresh Satyanarayana, is a qualified Swimming Coach and presently serves as Head Swimming Coach at Khelo India State Centre of Excellence. In his address, he spoke about the accolades of the school and the iconic sporting champions that the school had produced for the nation. He advised the participants to balance swimming with studies as both are equally important. According to the chief guest to be like the sun, one had to burn like the sun!

The Guest of Honour, Mr N M Dhyan Kashyap, is not only known for his swimming feat of crossing the Palk strait (29 km) but also for the fact that he is a para-swimmer who had taken it in his stride to overcome the hardships of a congenital ailment to rise to glorious heights. His motto being dedication, determination, and commitment.

Fr Norwin Pereira, Principal of SJBHS, said that the day was dedicated to celebrate swimming. To advocate this, he even took part in an exhibition lap of the pool with the guest of honour, the coaches present and the students of Class 10! Fr. Norwin said that this sport teaches discipline and hard work; respect and companionship; competition and perseverance and these qualities would enable a dedicated swimmer to excel in all fields of life.

The races panned the length of the pool as the strength of the swimmers was tested, their limits pushed and for many their dreams were realised. The winners were serenaded with medals and trophies, the ones not so lucky went home determined to do better the next time, to practise more and to improve their fitness levels.

One more event at SJBHS had reached completion; with yet another facet of the all-round development of the student tested for development; and yet another Annual Aquatic Meet had fulfilled the motto of Fide et Labore!
