Yoga Day

19th June, 2025

Healthy Mind Healthy Body

Our school celebrated International Yoga Day on 19th June 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation. The event began with a serene lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a short prayer to invoke peace and harmony. The theme for this year, "Yoga for Self and Society", was introduced, emphasizing the importance of balance between personal well-being and social harmony.

Our Principal, Fr Norwin Pereira SJ, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message on the significance of yoga in daily life. Students from classes 7th and 8th showcased a beautiful yoga presentation, performing asanas with grace and discipline. Dr Meenakshi our chief guest for this year's Yoga Day conducted a guided session of pranayama and meditation. She began by warmly greeting the students and staff, expressing joy in being part of the celebration. She spoke about the importance of yoga as a holistic practice that unites the body, mind, and spirit. She emphasized that in today’s fast-paced world, maintaining good health—both physical and mental—is crucial, and yoga offers a natural and effective way to achieve that.

She explained how regular practice of asanas (yoga postures) improves flexibility, strengthens muscles, boosts immunity, and reduces stress. She encouraged students to include simple yoga exercises in their daily routine to stay energetic, focused, and calm. “Yoga,” she said, “is not just a set of physical movements—it’s a lifestyle that promotes balance, discipline, and inner peace.” She concluded by motivating everyone to adopt yoga not just for one day, but as a lifelong habit.

The program was concluded by a vote of thanks, appreciating everyone’s contribution in making the event successful. The day served as a reminder of yoga’s role in nurturing a healthy mind and body.
