Students and the Advancing World of STEM
St. Joseph's Boys' High School proudly hosted the third edition of Aurum, the STEM fest, on the 22nd and 23rd of August.
Day 1 commenced with a grand Opening Ceremony that warmly welcomed students from over 15 Jesuit schools across Karnataka to our campus, offering them a glimpse of exciting experiences and learning opportunities. Dr. Thomas Phillip, our Chief Guest, graced the occasion with his presence, enlightening the audience with his insights on the importance of human effort supplemented by artificial intelligence. We proceeded to have an exciting field trip, where the schools explored the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum. The afternoon was reserved for competitions such as Engineering, Quiz, and Research. The sessions proved to be both intellectually stimulating and highly productive, leaving students enriched by the experience and amazed by the advancing world of STEM.
Day 2 dawned with warmth and promise. The major event for the day was the much-anticipated Career Quest, an enlightening session that opened doors to a world of career opportunities. Students explored diverse paths, asked insightful questions, and walked away with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity about their futures. Adding an element of fun to the learning journey, STEM Bingo brought laughter and excitement, making science both interactive and engaging.
Later, students participated in a CPR Training Workshop, a hands-on session that equipped them with vital life-saving skills — empowering them to respond effectively in emergencies.
The ceremony was graced by our Chief Guest, Dr. T. S. Srinath Kumar, and Guest of Honour, Ms. Asha Sundarajan, whose inspiring words left a lasting impact on both students and educators.
As the day drew to a close, the Closing Ceremony marked the conclusion of this two-day celebration of innovation and learning. The Prize Distribution recognized outstanding talent and effort in multiple categories but the Overall Winners were:
Junior Category Loyola English Medium School Vijayapura
Senior Category: Xavier School, Manvi
